Sautéed Cabbage
Valentina P
This recipe is a deceptively simple and delicious way to turn regular cabbage into a wonderful side dish. The combination of olive oil and sesame oil gives a full-bodied mouthfeel with a hint of Asian flavor. To transform the cabbage into a full meal, try tossing it into a Sriracha Stir-Fry.
How To MakeDiet Type: Plant-based
Shopping List
- 1/2 large head green cabbage, diced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil (divided)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a wide frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, or until golden. Add the cabbage, salt, onion powder, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Step 2: Add in the water to the cabbage and cook for another 10 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally. The cabbage will be ready when it is tender and golden, and all the water has cooked off.
- Step 3: Transfer the cabbage to a bowl and add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil. Stir and top with the optional sesame seeds.
- Serve: Enjoy. This goes great alongside Honey Sriracha Salmon and/or Nofu (Chickpea Tofu).
