The Best Asian Marinade

This Asian-inspired blend of orange juice, soy sauce, ginger, honey, and garlic makes the juiciest, most flavorful marinade. The orange juice tenderizes the protein, while the fish sauce adds robust umami depth. It's a winner, and ready in minutes. This marinade shines in Soy-Marinated Salmon, Soy-Marinated Salmon, chicken, and/or tofu. Any leftover marinade can also be cooked down into a delicious dipping sauce.

Marinade
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup low-sodium tamari
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon scallions, chopped (white and light green parts only)
- 1/2 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes Protein
- 1 pound steak, salmon, tofu, and/or chicken
Instructions
- Step 1: Mix together all ingredients until smooth. Submerge your protein of choice in the marinade, flipping it over as needed to coat both sides. Marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Do not exceed 24 hours.
- Step 2: Remove the protein from the marinade and proceed to grill or roast it. Do not discard the marinade.
- Step 3: Place the marinade in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer the sauce for 1 to 2 minutes, or until slightly reduced.
- Serve: Serve your marinated protein with the reduced sauce on the side as a super flavorful dipping sauce. Enjoy.
