How To MakeDiet Type: Plant-based
Shopping List
- 1 (15 ounce) pack extra-firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons tamari (we use low-sodium)
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons vegan worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1/2 heaping teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Step 1: Drain and cut the tofu in half horizontally and vertically to make 4 tofu steaks per package. Press the water out of the tofu by wrapping it in paper or clean reusable towels and setting a heavy pan on top of it. Let it press for 10 minutes.
- Step 2: Stir together the tamari, olive oil, worcestershire, maple syrup, rosemary, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small container.
- Step 3: Place the tofu slabs in the marinade, making sure each one has contact with the marinade. Refrigerate at least 2 hours to overnight, flipping the tofu over halfway through.
- Step 4: Once the tofu has marinated, cook it in a stovetop pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat. Cook the tofu about 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until slightly blackened.
- Serve: Enjoy in salads, sandwiches, and/or grain bowls.
