Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting
Valentina P
A thick and creamy chocolate sour cream frosting that's amazing on cakes and cupcakes. Perfect for dark chocolate lovers. Recipe makes 2.5 cups, or enough frosting for 2 (9-inch) cakes.
How To MakeDiet Type: Plant-based
Shopping List
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 12 tablespoons vegan butter, softened to room temperature
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 66666667/100000000 cup vegan chocolate chips
- 6 tablespoons vegan sour cream (we like Kite Hill)
- 2 to 4 tablespoons non-dairy milk
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler until very smooth. If using a microwave, stir every 20 to 30 seconds to avoid burning. Set aside.
- Step 2: With a stand or hand mixer, beat the butter on low until creamy. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder and beat on medium speed until fluffy.
- Step 3: Pour in the melted chocolate, sour cream, 2 tablespoons of milk, and pinch of salt. Beat everything together until well combined. If it looks too thick, add another little splash of milk until your desired consistency is reached.
- Serve: Use immediately while at room temperature or cover and refrigerate. If refrigerating, bring back to room temperature and beat the frosting again until creamy. This frosting is great on Vegan Chocolate Cake and The Best Vanilla Cupcakes.
