Bourbon Pecan Pie
Valentina P
This pecan pie recipe is a family favorite. The crunchy nuts mixed with the smooth bourbon undertone makes this such a nice subtle variation from the classic pie. Super easy to prepare and a very welcome holiday addition to any gathering.
How To MakeDiet Type: Classic
Shopping List
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 3/4 cups shelled pecans (pecan halves)
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 66666667/100000000 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 cup agave syrup
- 33333333/100000000 cup butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
- 3 1/2 tablespoons bourbon (use 2 tablespoons for less pronounced flavor)
- 1 orange, zested
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°. Keep the pie in the freezer or refrigerator until ready to fill.
- Step 2: Roughly chop the pecans, keeping some whole pieces and some lightly chopped. Spread the pecans evenly over the pie crust.
- Step 3: Stir together the eggs, sugar, maple syrup, agave syrup, butter, bourbon, orange zest, vanilla, and salt in a bowl until uniform. Pour this mixture evenly over the pecans.
- Step 4: Bake the pie for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. After the first 25 minutes, place a pie shield or tented aluminum foil over the crust if the edges are browning too quickly. Remove the finished pie from the oven and cool on a wire rack completely. The filling will puff up after baking, but will settle as it cools.
- Serve: This pie is best served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy.
