Valentina P
Juicy turkey (or chicken) burgers made with onion, garlic, oregano, melty cheese, and optional bell pepper. Easy and versatile.
How To MakeDiet Type: Low-carb
Shopping List
- 1 pound 93% lean ground turkey or chicken
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 33333333/100000000 cup cheese (such as feta, shredded mozzarella, or cheddar)
- 1/4 cup parsley or cilantro, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- pepper, to taste
- avocado oil, for frying
Instructions
- Step 1: Pulse the onion with a food processor until a chunky pulp is formed. No processor? Grate the onion using a box grater (the side normally used for cheese) in a large bowl. Collect all of the grated onion and juices and chop any leftover onion that you can't grate and add it to the bowl.
- Step 2: Add all of the ground turkey, optional bell pepper, cheese, parsley or cilantro, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix together.
- Step 3: Shape the meat into burger patties (wetting your hands with water helps keep the meat from sticking to your hands).
- Step 4: Heat the oil in a wide skillet over medium-hight heat. Add the burgers and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. After the 6 minutes, add a splash of water to the pan and then cover with a lid. Steam the burgers this way for about 2 minutes, or until fully cooked through.
- Serve: Enjoy. We like these burgers in Burger and Hummus Bowls or with sweet potato fries.
