Honey Sriracha Tofu
Valentina P
Crispy tofu tossed in a spicy-sweet glaze made from honey (or maple), sriracha, and garlic. We especially love making this with Chickpea Tofu!
How To MakeDiet Type: Classic
Shopping List
- 1 batch chickpea tofu (or 1 container extra-firm tofu)
- 4 tablespoons corn starch
- 2 tablespoons sriracha
- 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- avocado oil or grapeseed oil, for frying
Instructions
- Step 1: If using the extra-firm tofu option, drain the box of tofu and press the liquid out of the tofu. You can use a tofu press or wrap the tofu in clean towels and place under a heavy weight. Press for 15 minutes.
- Step 2: Dice the tofu of choice into bite-sized pieces. Coat the pieces on all sides in the starch.
- Step 3: Heat a splash of cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu in a single layer. It should sizzle on contact with the oil. Cook until golden and crispy, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate when done. Repeat this step in batches until all of the tofu is cooked.
- Step 4: Drain any excess oil out of the pan. Stir together the honey, 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, garlic, and sriracha in a small bowl. Heat the pan back up and add the honey mixture. Add the tofu back in and toss to coat everything in the glaze.
- Serve: Top with optional sesame seeds and enjoy over rice.
